The Fall Conference Gatherings continue! This past weekend, October 29-30, 2022, the Sierra Nevada Foothills Conference 4 gathered at various locations across the synod.
On Saturday, October 29th, the eastern part of the Conference gathered at Peace Lutheran Church in Grass Valley, CA, hosted by local Pastor Christian Schweter. The group gathered for a lunch, presentation, conversation, and closing worship service. It was a wonderful Saturday gathering with congregants from Marysville, Meadow Vista, El Dorado Hills, and beyond.
On Sunday, October 30th, Bishop Claire Burkat and Vice President Simon Wong celebrated Reformation Sunday with a morning worship service at Faith Lutheran Church in Reno, NV. The congregation welcomed Bishop Burkat and VP Wong to the service with open arms, which included a farewell to their beloved musician, Karon Felten. A wonderful service led by Rev. Shaun O'Reilly with fruitful fellowship afterwards!
The weekend concluded with part two of the Conference Gathering, hosted by Rev. Sarah Johnson of Lord of Mercy Lutheran Church in Sparks, NV. A taco bar lunch greeted folks, who arrived in their best Reformation Red, before they gathered for conversation, fellowship, and a brief worship service. Local seminarian interns, active and retired clergy, and a community of lay leaders and congregants from Reno, Sparks, Carson City, Fernley, and beyond gathered for a wonderful Sunday together.
Special thanks to Conference Dean Rev. Charlane Lines, who jumped right into her Dean duties upon returning from Sabbatical just a few weeks ago. Another Conference Gathering in the books!
