2022 Fall Quilts & Kits Ingathering for Lutheran World Relief (LWR)

Is your congregation looking for a service project to participate in this fall? Do you have a group of quilters who are looking to donate quilts? Gathering your youth group this fall for an evening of service that reaches people far and wide? We invite you to consider partnering with Lutheran World Relief!

Every fall, Lutheran World Relief hosts Ingatherings for congregations to drop off their donations of quilts and kits. You can learn more about the quilts & kits needed here.

"Often, when natural disasters strike or when war drives families from their homes, our hearts ache with compassion, but we don’t know how to help. Making Lutheran World Relief Kits is a simple, fun and tangible way to offer comfort to those suffering and express love to our neighbors in need. LWR Kits are specifically designed to help people coping with poverty, disaster, conflict and more. Whether a kit helps someone to maintain good hygiene, care well for a newborn baby, keep education going during a crisis or learn a new vocation, LWR Kits provide dignity and hope in the direst situations," shared by LWR here.

This year, our Synod will have two ingathering locations where you can bring your donations, and they'll take care of the rest.

St. James Lutheran Church - 2500 Shasta View Drive, Redding, CA will host a drop-off on October 15th from 11:00am-4:00pm. If you have any questions, please connect with Katie Swartz at (530) 551-1095.

Bethel Lutheran Church - 10181 Finch Avenue, Cupertino, CA will host a drop-off on October 13-15th from 10:00am-2:00pm each day. If you have any questions, please connect with Joann Weberg at (408) 348-4168.

Last fall, our Sierra Pacific Synod Youth Committee (SPSYC) hosted a synod-wide kit-making service day. These LWR projects are a wonderful intergenerational service opportunity - we hope your congregation joins us!
